My whole life
changed when I asked her this
question...

It was a brisk Fall morning & I found myself on the cobblestone steps of our rental house in a little German village, my kiddos under each arm, waving goodbye to my husband as he headed off to work.
Ms. Patty, our German neighbor, joined us for an impromptu chat while we all sat there still in our pj's. Curiousity & honest conversations have always been important to me, but when I asked this question, I had no idea the answer was going to change the course of my life forever:

"What do the Germans really
think of Americans?"

Morning coffee & quiet, reading, gratitude, happy music,
sun-soaking, bedtime by 9 ;)

daily rituals

at home w/ my nose in a book, at the ocean *undisclosed location*, talking w/ random strangers about their life story, dancing to hip-hop w/ my babies & holding my Love's hand while listening to George Strait

YOU CAN FIND ME:

hassles, being too busy, attitudes of impossible, whining (even w/ a side of cheese!)

I'm NOT ABOUT:

Jesus, straight talk, simplicity,
the power of hope, an attitude of gratitude, standing up for what I believe in, loving all kinds of people (whether they agree with me or not)

I BELIEVE IN:

My superpower is
inspiring & empowering
people to take ownership
of their lives
& to live authentically
- freely & fully -
here & now.

Without hesitation, she said,

"We don't understand why you Americans pretend that everything is perfect all the time."

I swear I was transparent in that moment - like she could literally see right through me...

And in that moment, I knew I had to let go of the pursuit of perfection or it would kill me from the inside out.

I realized that so much of my life had been built around what other people's opinions or expectations were for me. And that, my friend, was slowly but surely killing my own soul & keeping me from the kind of life I wanted.

Like a spark to my heart in a moment that was, perhaps, divinely directed, I started to breathe again.

To let go.

To live, what I truly believe is the American Dream:
the freedom to pursue life & happiness in a way that's aligned with my own soul... to live freely and fully.

You have
every right
&
every reason
to build a
life you love.
